Boycotting the 407 and the Rewards Therein

Over the past few months, my tolerance for the folks over at the 407 has severely dwindled.  They own a highway, they know it's convenient, they've lost their minds - and my business. I like to call it the Rogers Syndrome.  Rogers has no idea how to treat their customers and neither do the greedy misers over at the 407.  I used to travel daily on the ETR from the 400 to the 410 and back; but not anymore.  The price for that trip has gradually increased over the years, but when I looked at my last statement, that trip now costs $5.03... EACH WAY.  Um, earth to Matilda?

Last Friday, my protest began.  Also, I happened to be going to Niagara on the weekend, and I would have normally taken the 67.7km journey on the ETR, but I didn't.  In two days of taking the back roads to work and not taking the 407 to Niagara and back, I have saved $45.78!!!
À la Lewis Black, 'let me repeat that':  I have saved $45.78!!!  To put that in perspective, I could buy enough groceries to last me a week.

I'm going to keep an ongoing tab of money that I'm not paying to the ETR and will update this section regularly... stay tuned!
